Greene County Citizens Patrol

Out serving warrants?

News Release SPRINGFIELD -- The Greene County Sheriff's Department is seeking volunteers for a new program called Citizens on Patrol. The volunteers will do patrols in a specially marked vehicle after going through an application process and a 40-hour academy. The volunteers will not be able to carry a weapon, nor will they have the ability to arrest anyone.

Seems like there would be all kinds of liability issues...

Just what the heck will they do?

Park the car in front of Krispy Kreme?

If I can't yell 'citizens arrest, citizens arrest' or shoot some of the people on my 'short list', I'll just have to pass on this deal.

It's going to be worse than the blue-lighters chasing after their fire truck.

Reminds me of Police Academy, verification word-dishipt, as in this is a dishipt idea

Just get Bubba Smith in here and we'll be fine.

we actually have a similiar program in place here in FLA.....
while the comments made here are laughable....the service these volunteers provide has been beneficial to the local police and sheriff departments....gives the old people something to do and Walmart has never been safer....

Where do I sign up?

The light on that patrol car is worth more than the patrol car.

Sell it and they could hire another deputy
