from the live blog of the KY3 news team's Brad Beloite coverage of the October 6, 2010 7th District debate in Joplin rebroadcast last night:

Confusion about who's turn it is to answer.

Long: Lot of things about health care bill that are good.
Wednesday October 6, 2010 7:18

7:20
Long: HCR did not address cost. Doctors furious with how it's going to be handled. We need competition. Sell insurance across state lines. Not going to have enough doctors. didn't address fraud and abuse
Wednesday October 6, 2010 7:20

7:21
Eckersley: Billy and I agree. Would have voted no to HCR bill. We are where we are. When I work for Gov. Blunt, HB 18 kept kids on policies til age 25. Need innovative smart solutions. Look at self insured companies by cutting out middle man. Bill didn't address preventative medicine. O'Reilly, Bass Pro Shops cited as examples.

7:23
Craig: mistake to order insurance companies to cover pre existing conditions. We all pay for someone's care when catastrophic events happen. Destroys concept of insurances. Republicans under Bush didn't address issue when in power. Miracle of free market gave us best HC system in world. It works. Creates lower costs. Makes available to everyone. Americans are generous and will come to aid of people who can't be covered by insurance.

I have predicted repeal and a replace is a scam to capitalize on voter anger, and once the power and lobbying money is seen by the GOP with coming across the lines for Obamacare, repeal and replace will be forgotten about. Watch it happen.

KY3 should clean up that transcript. That said...

I think Long should have elaborated more on what he thought was good. I'm convinced he meant that in a snide way, like, "I like that we can try to repeal it."

Not particularly heartened that all three candidates think the reform was a bad idea, specifically when referring to what I think are the best parts about the legislation.

KSN will post the video on their Web site later today, so we can see what Billy said. KY3 is the most trusted news source in Southwest Missouri. I can't imagine they would try to spin this.
