HOT DIGGITY DOG! HOT DIGGITY DOG!*
We saw another side of the auctioneer tonight and it wasn't pretty.
From the Turner Report, comes this press release from Billy Long about last night's debate in Joplin. I went to the Long for congress website but the release was not on that site.
If you watched tonight's debate on KOLR-10 and simulcast on KWTO560, you will understand this post.*
The Long press release:
Last night Scott Eckersley used DC-style double speak HOT DIGGITY DOG! to make a false claim about Billy Long. HOT DIGGITY DOG!
Fact: Billy Long has never filled out a survey HOT DIGGITY DOG! from Conservative Congress. HOT DIGGITY DOG! In fact, there is no survey to fill out. HOT DIGGITY DOG!
Fact: Billy Long does not support dismantling Social Security and has never said he does. HOT DIGGITY DOG! He supports reforming Social Security so it will be there for generations to come. HOT DIGGITY DOG!
Back in July, Scott Eckersley told the Joplin Globe all reform options were on the table, including raising the retirement age and increasing taxes. Now, Eckersley has issued an entirely fabricated attack HOT DIGGITY DOG! twisting Billy Long’s call for reform HOT DIGGITY DOG! to fit the Eckersley agenda. It appears that everyone HOT DIGGITY DOG! except Scott Eckersley knows that Social Security must be reformed. He just wants to use it as a wedge issue,HOT DIGGITY DOG! scaring voters HOT DIGGITY DOG! by making false allegations HOT DIGGITY DOG! that reform will mean doing away with retirement benefits altogether.HOT DIGGITY DOG! Billy wants to have a dialogue on reform,HOT DIGGITY DOG! not substitute fear-mongering HOT DIGGITY DOG! for substantive debate on important issues. HOT DIGGITY DOG!
Social Security has become one of the biggest expenses in the federal budget. As more people reach retirement age, the smaller pool of workers paying into the system is becoming unable to support the expense of benefits for a large pool of retired workers. According to David C. Johns of The Heritage Foundation, the Social Security system is already running a deficit due to a weak economy and is set to run a permanent deficit starting in 2016, though it is highly likely it will keep running deficits from now on. The Social Security trust fund cannot bail the program out, as liberals in Congress have repeatedly raided it for pork projects and filled the program’s coffers with nothing but IOUs. This has put the Social Security system in danger of going broke within a relatively short period of time, making Social Security reform an urgent issue. This is true, David C. Johns of the Heritage Foundation did say this, so no HOT DIGGITY DOG! here. But if we look at the content of what Johns said, HOT DIGGITY DOG! HOT DIGGITY DOG! HOT DIGGITY DOG! etc, etc.
The truth HOT DIGGITY DOG! is Billy believes we need to honor our commitment to our seniors. Billy is not going to try to ‘dismantle’ Social Security.HOT DIGGITY DOG! We won’t change benefits HOT DIGGITY DOG! or increase retirement age HOT DIGGITY DOG! for those who are already retired HOT DIGGITY DOG! oops, how can you raise the retirement age of someone already retired? How do you get that cat back in the box? or close to retirement.HOT DIGGITY DOG! What he will do is work for reforms HOT DIGGITY DOG! that will ensure Social Security will still be around for future generations.
HOT DIGGITY DOG!
HOT DIGGITY DOG! HOT DIGGITY DOG! HOT DIGGITY DOG! HOT DIGGITY DOG!
Ah jeez, Billy, you're not a twelve-year-old any more riding Chula and teaching Little Bear tricks.
You're an adult, you're 55 years old, you're running for congress. Can you at least try to act like it?(photo courtesy Billy Long)
*During last night's debate, Long said to Eckersley, "Hot diggity dog. Anytime you lie, Scott, I'm going to holler out 'Hot diggity dog.' And you lied last night. You lied consistently about me that I signed some kind of a questionnaire."

We missed the debate over here on the west side. Cann you give us a post explaining the hot diggity phrase?
Too bad the Republicans couldn't have run that dog in the picture instead of that guy in the picture.
I cannot get over that "hot diggity dog" comment. I just beat my forehead on the table with that one. All I could muster was, "oh my God this cannot be happening...."
I hope Roy falls and breaks his neck for this one, he's really topped himself here. Billy is like the human version of Leno's "stupid pet tricks". Jokes on us.
