Let's go and ask Congressman Long why he wants to kill Medicare and Social Security

Congressman to speak on senior issues
--U.S. Rep. Billy Long will speak at a Senior Issues Coffee next week, hosted by Experience Works Inc., a national nonprofit training and employment organization for older workers.

Long, a Republican who represents Missouri’s 7th District, will participate in the event, which will focus on issues relating to senior citizens in southwest Missouri. It will be 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at the Springfield Boys and Girls Club Stalnaker Unit at 1410 N. Fremont Ave.

The event is free and open to the public.

“We are very pleased to partner with Representative Long to provide an opportunity for him to meet with area residents,” Diane Chambers, Experience Works state director for Missouri, said in a news release.

Formerly known as Green Thumb, Experience Works is a national, charitable, community-based organization with the mission of improving the lives of low-income older people through employment, community service and training.

For more information about the Senior Issues Coffee or Experience Works, call 417-887-1704 or toll free at 877-872-4740.

There is a big difference between 'killing' SS and Medicare and trying to control, out of control spending. Don't ya think?

Out of Controll: Deficit rockets 16% in first half of year.

Instead of asking Billy, why don't you recommend specific areas for cutting spending.

Remember when teachers, public employees, Planned Parenthood, NPR and PBS crashed the stock market, wiped out half of our 401Ks, took trillions in TARP money, spilled oil in the Gulf of Mexico, gave themselves billions in bonuses, and paid no taxes?

Now, what was it I was supposed to ask Billy?

Glad to see that Jeff Roe is tuning in.

How about, what will it take to sustain the unsustainable growth of payouts in Medicare?

How about, what will it take to sustain the unsustainable costs of unfunded mandates in the
Department of Education coming down to the states and then on down to local school districts?

How about, grants to local entities for projects like the Springfield/Greene County Park Board for the unneeded but now on ongoing reality of unfunded operating costs for the equesterian center, the animal-petting farm out by Budweiser; the Valley Watermill path to nowhere; the unused bicycle right-of-way on Boonville; and, others?

How about the ethanol subsidies to convert corn into ethanol driving up food costs?

How about, Oh Lord, help me out here!

And yes, you are correct, Wall Street was rewarded as my retirement security has been destroyed. Billy knows this but it will take a different Senate and President who is capable of understanding the problem first and then working on solutions.

You can't balance the budget on budget cuts alone, you need to raise taxes.

How many more years do you want me to fund Planned Parenthood until you recognize it as a failed, public entity?

Bus you are correct. I did not pay one dime in federal income taxes in 2010, yet I'm getting a federal refund for $1,016.

WTF? Am I supposed to stimulate the economy? I can't stimulate my gas take with a fillup at $4.00/gallon gas.

I'll gladly pay taxes, and I believe everyone, no exceptions, with some income should pay some taxes.

Republicans live to eliminate SS and Medicare and Medicaid. Are you kidding....it's their life goal.

Now, that said, I don't know what the hell they plan to do with all the poor people afterwards.

My parents can go live at Billy Long's house.

Who's the nut who said Planned Parenthood was a failed...whatever? It has provided services FOREVER you fool to women, and not just abortion. It is the only form of health care for millions of poor women. Just because you Republicans don't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Geeze, no wonder we're in the mess we're in. ('Member that surplus you guys blew threw?)

I just wish we had Clinton back. He'd kick the shit out of these dirty, low life "patriots".
