What is happening in Wisconsin in simple terms.

A unionized public employee, a Tea Party member and a CEO are sitting at a table. In the middle of the table is a plate with a dozen cookies on it. The CEO reaches over and takes 11 cookies and then says to the tea partier, "Watch out for that union guy, he wants a piece of your cookie."

FiredupMissouri is reporting the Missouri House passed legislation to phase out the state's corporate franchise tax today, which will cost the state up to $87.5 million in lost revenues every year when it's fully enacted.

As far as I know, no plan has been put forward detailing how many teachers will lose their jobs if this becomes law. Or how high tuition will need to go. Or how taxes will need to be raised on working people so that the already wealthy can pay a little less.

Firedup provides this link to this video posted by the Missouri News Horizon, in which Speaker Steve Tilley makes it clear that "he is in no hurry to move ahead" on right to work for less legislation.

Bus, here's the deal on this one.

The Republicans/Tea Party whatever they call themselves are riding high right now. But, they are on the wrong side of this issue. They will lose every cop, firefighter, teacher and public employee in the upcoming elections. At this point for Missouri to push Right to Work is suicide.

The Dems will sit tight, perhaps even LET some of this legislation go through to encourage the backlash and defend it by saying they were out numbered.

Obama will remain mute, as he should. No need to speak out, they'll step on their own di---.

This one issue give Obama 2012. Mark my words.

I realize this is anecdotal, but on the other hand I have watched at the scene coverage on FSTV daily since the beginning of the union uprising in Wisconsin-lots of direct interviews...

Not only are the WI police and firefighters associations {who weren't the victims in the bill)in solidarity with the protests-there are representatives from police and firefighter associations across the country there in support-who are making statements to the media that they always voted Republican, but Governor Walker has changed all that...

Corporations don't pay taxes, they just collect them.

If corporations want the same rights that I have, then they should have to meet the same obligations that I do.

9:26, Unionized cops, firefighters, teachers and public employees have been voting Democrat since the New Deal. Where have you been?

The issue is answering the simple question, who is going to pay the bill and how much are they willing to pay?

If corporations are persons then they need to pay the higher personal income taxes instead of the lower corporate taxes. Also since persons cannot off-shore income, corporations should not either. Also, people who own stock may reconsider it since that is owning a person (slavery)...isn't corporate personhood a silly concept?
