Stuck Trailer...If That Fence Pole Hadn't A Been There, It Would Have Come Right Out Without A Hitch.

Nine and a half foot gate.
Eight foot wide trailer.
Left front tire drops off curb, tilting trailer to the left.
Trailer meets fence pole.
Discussion.
Remove gate.
Chain hooked on axle, truck can't pull trailer sideways.
Hook second truck to first truck.
No success.
Call wrecker.
Wrecker pulls trailer eight inches south.
Wrecker shears pin on winch.
Trailer clears pole.
Truck pulling trailer get stuck in snow/mud.
$60.00 later truck and trailer in the street.

This is Sam and Frankie's trailer parked on our back yard. They came up from Texas to visit their daughter and grandkids who live two doors down the street. They parked their trailer in our backyard. Pride backed the 8' wide trailer through the 9.5' gate. It took him several approaches of backing and filing to get the trailer in the yard, seeing as there is a telephone pole and guy wire directly across the street from the gate, necessitating backing in at an angle.

Sam hooked up the pickup to the trailer and started pulling out of the yard through the gate. He planned to make a right turn and head up the street, so he could miss the guy wires on the telephone pole. As he swung right, the left front tire on the trailer dropped off the curb and tilted the trailer to the left. Lots of people hollering, "WHOA!" The trailer lodged itself against the fence pole and gate. I removed the gate from the fence post to gain some inches.

I got several chains and looped them around the right axles and pulled the chain between the tires to the back of Sam's dually pickup. The truck just spun its tires and made lots of smoke, it was too light to budge the trailer.

Another dually pickup showed up, this one with a diesel engine. I got another chain and we hooked the two trucks together. More tire smoke and the trailer didn't budge. Time to call a wrecker.

The wrecker was able to move the trailer sideways about eight inches before the winch sheared a pin. Luckily, that was enough to get the trailer out of the gate.


A tale of inches. Sometimes an inch is as good as a mile.

Sam had to drive up in the neighbor's yard to complete the right turn. But he made it.

That's Some Friend, That $20,000.00 Friend!

David Bryan, the Cadillac, Pontiac and Honda dealer in Fayetteville, N.C., gave $20,000.00 to Friends of Melissa Leach broken in $4,900.00 increments. He gave $4,900.00 on 11/3/2009, S4,900.00 on 11/9/2009, $4,900.00 on 11/12/2009, $4,900.00 on 11/16/2009 and $400.00 on 11/17/2009 for a grand total of $20,000.00. That's Some Friend! And a clever friend, as none of his contributions were over $5,000.00 so the 48 hour
rule didn't apply! HAH! Who is Melissa Leach? She used to go by Lisa Leach, she lived out west, was born in July, 1960, graduated from MSU in 1994 with an individualized bachelor of science degree, is a single parent who was on food stamps for a while, is a senior fundraiser at Strategic Fundraising, Inc (member of the "Strategic Million Dollar Club" - you may have seen their ads in the SN-L) and she is running for state representative in the 137th district in north Springfield.

In a video produced by her campaign, (probably what the $4,200 inkind donation from Rachel Young Design and Photography was used for - but we won't know because line 18 shows -0-) a banner text on the bottom of the screen states: "I support the Tea Party Movement - Taxed Enough Already". Her video is on youtube.

But that still doesn't answer the question of why a Car dealer in Fayatteville, N.C., gave $20,000.00 to a political rookie in Northwest Springfield.

Leach also appears to have the same problem delineating 'in kind' contributions and expenses as does Bob Dixon.

Maybe those ethics reformers in Jefferson City ought to make it a part of the package if you can't vote for a person you can't give her money?

$20,000.00 from a Cadillac dealer in North Carolina! Maybe she met him while she was doing fundraising for the republicans? Maybe they used to date? Maybe he likes her? Maybe it's her brother? Or did he give her twenty grand because she's a teabagger?

Feb. 1. I got up and milked the cow. Mail brought $5 check from Oak Hill boys who are working in Bingham, Utah copper mines. I had written them in November.

Robert Harris, Jr. and Novella brought us warm dinners. Virgil and Everett called one hour. Virgil has a new Studebaker. Reading "World Call" article on Co-operatives in Scandanavia worth keeping.

Letter from F.E. Smith rejecting S.T. Sims for Ministerial Relief. By mistake he mailed me E.C. Sechler's back account on Pension Fund and also charged Summersville church with not being in Pension Fund. Smith need to make investigation. Three from Texas County given Relief, yet S.T. Sims has done more for the cause than any of us. Nora objected to my letter to F.E. Smith so I didn't mail it.

Gave Leland Gourtley a catalog of Union Theological Seminary and told him I wanted him to go there later.

Mrs. Finn sent me to the Hotel as her dinner guest. When I gave the envelope to the Hotel landlady it proved to have pills in it instead of money. Mrs. Finn said I could tell Roy Wall but no one else--"They would tease me too much."
