"It's Not The Color Of Obama's Skin That Makes Him Unacceptable..."

When someone makes the claim that, "It’s not the money, it’s the principle!" They may feel driven by principle, but more often than not, it still comes down to money.

So, when someone makes the statement, "It's not the color of Obama's skin that makes him unacceptable, it's the direction that he wants to take our nation*," several questions are immediately raised. Why do you mention the color of his skin? Why do you feel you have to mention the color of his skin? If you have to say it's not the color of his skin, it probably is.

For someone to make a statement like that reflects poorly on their judgment. For an elected official to make a statement like that is simply unacceptable.

*"It's not the color of (Barack) Obama's skin that makes him unacceptable, it's the direction that he wants to take our nation. He's for bigger government, more taxes, and he's just too liberal. With Democrats in control of the House and Senate, if Obama gets in, they will double down on the welfare state and speed up our slide toward socialism."

Oh Sing It, Tammy! It's A Beautiful Melody!

Sigh, that song always makes me feel blue.

Whip It.....

Oh yeah, Roy calls out Rahm.

Whip It----Roy Calls Out Rahm

Cha-Cha-Cha-Changes.....But Not In Greene County

Changes---

Schoeller--no change--still Republican
Norr--no change--still Democrat
Dixon--no change--still Republican
Lampe--no change--still Democrat
Denison--no change--still Republican
Viebreck--no change--still Republican

The only change was Eric Burlison bested Nick Beatty but the seat remained a Republican seat.

County Races...of particular interest to me,,,,,
Kessinger beats Trippe, no change
Helms beats me,,,no change

Arnott beats Ramon, Sheriff's office stays Republican, no change
Yancy beats Fabro----position goes to Republican, change.

Based on the Kessinger/Trippe race, 36% of Greene County is democrat.

No independents broke to the Democrats....giving credence to the theory that independents are really Republicans

The SN-L endorsed Hagan, Ramon, Fabro, Lee, Lampe, Burlison, Bensch, Norr----50% win rate. Do they mean much?

Reports last night of more lost files in the clerk's office.

Ready For Some Art? Ready For Some Culture? Head Over To The Greene County Circuit Clerk's Office, Steve Will Take Care Of You.

If you're in the Greene County Courts Complex and you get a hankering to purchase some fine art that ain't painted on black velvet, then you are in the right place, well sort of.

In doing a google on Helms, I came across the following item.
And here's another one.

As much trouble there is in the Circuit Clerk's office, you'd a thought selling art out of the office would be one of the last things one would expect Helms to be doing.

But hey, look on the bright side, it aint' the Ten Commandments.

I have nothing against art in public places, I think it is a good idea, but in this office, it is probably a distraction that is not needed. Maybe this is what the SN-L meant when they said in their
editorial that didn't endorse Helms: "It (the circuit clerk's office) needs to run as smoothly as possible, without needless distraction."

I was disappointed to lose yesterday's election for the Greene County Circuit Clerk's position. I believed my qualifications and work history were uniquely qualified for the job. Unfortunately, only 41% of the voters agreed with me. I would have made the trains run on time.

Greene County has a history of ignoring qualified candidates and electing....well, remember Jean Dixon? Ah, The Normal Heart and Larry Morris, the Christian counselor who preached the philosophy of NARTH with his 'helping hands'?

Helms, Yancy and Arnott---The "REP" Wins

The SN-L endorsed Ramon, Fabro and Lee. The county clerk's results show they all did about the same...they all split about 60/40
Arnott 58%
Ramon 41%

Kessinger 64%
Trippe 36%

Yancy 53%
Fabro 47%

Helms 59%
Lee 41%

what this tells me is that people voted their party, not the candidate.

McCain pulled 57%
Obama pulled 41%

The people who voted for McCain, stayed with their party in the down ticket races. Ditto for the people who voted for Obama.

There appeared to be very few cross over voters.

It will be interesting to see the precinct breakdown of votes.

To all those who supported me with their vote, thank you.

I was talking to a person this evening who told me that if I wanted to win an election in Greene County, I would have to run as a Republican. Somehow I can't see myself being in the party of Tim Trower and Ryan Cooper. Or Steve Helms.

Democracy, A Prayer and Some Advice.....

Democracy:

A Prayer:
Lord God of all creation,
You rule and judge all nations,
You scatter the arrogant of mind and heart,
You cast down rulers from their thrones and raise up the lowly.

As we elect those who will serve in our government:
the voices that call us to go this way or that way are confusing,
the signs of these times that we must discern are tragic and unjust,
the culture of death that afflicts all people is powerful.

Open our eyes to see your Reign in history,
our hearts to share your love with all people,
our ears to hear the cry of the widow, the orphan, and the stranger among us.

Send your Holy Spirit upon the people of this land:
Teach us to make wise and prudent decisions.
Increase our faith and hope.
Help us to live the Gospel we profess.

May all who are elected this day:
do justice,
love goodness,
and walk humbly before You and all people.

We ask for these blessings,
confident in your providence through all time,
calling upon Mary our Mother
and all the saints who have served the cause of justice,
through your Son, Jesus Christ, Redeemer and Savior, Amen.
