Finally a day that will celebrate Billy Long, and with self-promotion aand all. He's like the Rodney Dangerfield of Congress--always looking for respect.
I think Billy misses his real job. Wouldn't you if they put you in a corner and told you to shut up and not say anything. This was probably a compromise with his own party. Shut up and we will let you get on the floor to promote Auctioneer Day, and if you are very good, we might even earmark an auctioneer themed amusement park near Branson if you promise not to run again next year.
Oh but it did, and CNN caught every word of it. Makes you wonder if Ozark Billy will head up to Kansas City to talk Auctioneer Day cards with Hallmark.
Notice at about 30 seconds in the video, Long says the auction industry sales over $25 trillion annually. The gross domestic product is only $14 trillion. $25 trillion isn't even imaginable. Where did he get that number?
BB - c'mon. He's clueless. It's Sarah Palin with a hat for cryin' out loud.
He has no clue what he's saying.
My dad had a question he'd ask from time to time, particularly when we were forced to listen to some idiot talking incessantly. Like in a waiting room at a doctor's office. He turn to me and ask, "why is it people the least informed do all the talking and NEVER shut up? It's like they want to prove their idiots. They don't want you to "suspect" their idiots, they want to prove it."
8:07, I'm no Sarah Palin (or Steelman) fan but give her some credit. She has institutional knowledge about how local, state and the federal government works. She knows what economic activity drives the Alaskan economy (oil & gas, fishing, timber, and tourism) and how to work with legislators to produce a balanced budget. She did it.
Our home-grown Billy has non of the above, nor will he ever. His antics in Washington D.C. simply demonstrate his lack of knowledge, skills and abilities. It's going to be a long, long time until he is finally defeated. Too bad.
I agree with you anonymous 8:07. If Billy Long's pocket Constitution is really rode hard and put up wet, it is because he is using it as toilet paper and not reading material.
