News Release SPRINGFIELD -- The Greene County Sheriff's Department is seeking volunteers for a new program called Citizens on Patrol. The volunteers will do patrols in a specially marked vehicle after going through an application process and a 40-hour academy. The volunteers will not be able to carry a weapon, nor will they have the ability to arrest anyone.
Seems like there would be all kinds of liability issues...
ReplyDeleteJust what the heck will they do?
ReplyDeletePark the car in front of Krispy Kreme?
If I can't yell 'citizens arrest, citizens arrest' or shoot some of the people on my 'short list', I'll just have to pass on this deal.
It's going to be worse than the blue-lighters chasing after their fire truck.
Reminds me of Police Academy, verification word-dishipt, as in this is a dishipt idea
ReplyDeleteJust get Bubba Smith in here and we'll be fine.
ReplyDeletewe actually have a similiar program in place here in FLA.....
ReplyDeletewhile the comments made here are laughable....the service these volunteers provide has been beneficial to the local police and sheriff departments....gives the old people something to do and Walmart has never been safer....
This is a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteWhere do I sign up?
The light on that patrol car is worth more than the patrol car.
ReplyDeleteSell it and they could hire another deputy
